Tanzanian Peaberry Kitamu
Tanzanian Peaberry Kitamu
This Tanzania Peaberry Microlot has been sourced from several small estate producers in the northern Karatu District of Tanzania’s Arusha Region. Located just southwest of Mt. Kilimanjaro where mineral rich volcanic soil and abundant intercropping of taller banana trees, for shade, provides excellent growing conditions.
Referring to the bean shape, "peaberries" are noticeably smaller and rounder. A naturally occurring process, "peaberries" form when the seed (coffee bean) of the cherry fails to split into two parts during development. Otherwise, this variety follows a typical process of cultivation, washing and sun drying.
In Swahili, "Kitamu" means “sweet” and is used when describing something with a delicious taste. Aptly named, this coffee shows complex acidity, citrusy notes and balanced, dark chocolate-like body in the cup.
