Minas Gerais, known for its rolling hills and uneven terrain, is one of the largest coffee growing regions in Brazil. The Dutra Family started planting coffee in this region over 50 years ago focusing on specialty grade, fully traceable lots for direct trade. At Fazenda Dutra, a passion for sustainability plays an important role in their business model including the use of solar energy to run much of the processing equipment; investments in a school; and offering health care for employees and their families. As well, the estate boasts nearly 750 acres of native forest to protect water sources and create natural barriers to shield the coffee trees from wind and erosion.
