Bolivia APROCAFE
Bolivia APROCAFE
Founded in 1999, APROCAFE is an association of a group of 35 small specialty coffee producers dedicated to ecologically sound coffee production. After hand picking their ripe cherries, the growers deliver the coffee to the association for careful evaluation. The select cherries are then machine pulped, followed by 15 hours of fermentation in wooden trays. Subsequently they are washed and dried in the sun in preparation for export.
Since 2018, APROCAFE has also promoted a new agro-tourism project which connects visitors with member farms, encouraging participation in some of the agricultural work such a harvesting, pulping & drying. It is a program designed and managed by the "next generations" coffee producers.
