This semi-washed coffee comes from the women-led Ketiara cooperative. The Ketiara Coop is very proud of its sustainable, eco-friendly production methods which include zero chemical use, protection of local water resources, and a zero conversion of forest into agricultural plots. The complexity of the Sumatra Aceh Gayo Ketiara is a direct result of the immense care through out the cultivation and milling process. Shade grown in volcanic soil; harvested under strict standards of selection and timing; fermented, washed and sundried to meet established expectations for moisture content; followed by a multi-phased sorting process involving density machines, hand-picking, and de-stoning; finally the coffee is sampled, tested, graded and packaged for export.
